Cobh Ramblers May Player of the Month

After another hugely impressive month for the club we are now launching our Player of the Month Award for May 2017. Wins over Cabinteely and UCD as well as a draw with leaders Waterford have Cobh well placed in the promotion race.

While it was hugely difficult to pick just four nominees, our panel have selected four players to vote from.

1) Paul Hunt.

Paul captained the side during the suspension of Chris McCarthy and kept clean sheets in the Waterford, UCD and Cabinteely ties. The former Longford man has consistently impressed, pulling off countless top class saves.

2) Jason Abbott.

Jason has really come into the side of late and a man of the match performance against Cabinteely epitomised his skill and work rate. The local midfielder is definitely worthy of a nomination after a great month.

3) James McSweeney.

Having returned from international duty with the u18 side, James regained his position at centre back and as always dominated games throughout. The 17 year old is a player with a huge future ahead of him and had no problem facing League of Ireland veterans like Jason Byrne and Mark O’Sullovan.

4) Matthew Whelan.

It took Matthew a while to get going this year but the young striker is now racking up the goals and climbing the scorer leaderboard. He grabbed the winner away to UCD as well goals against Athlone and Cabinteely.
