Manager Gary Hunt – 1/4 Season Review

Ahead of this evenings fixture at home to Finn Harps at St. Colmans Park 1st team manager Gary Hunt looks back on the season so far.

After completing the first round of games it’s a good time to reflect and look ahead to what is still to come in an exciting time for the club.

Coming into the 2024 season on the back of a successful year previously there was plenty of turnover in the squad and a lot of the young talented players now have the platform to show what they can do for Cobh Ramblers. Some new signings have also come into the club and now we can start to work on getting Cobh back to where we all want to be. Even though results have not been what we want them to be we have shown some good performances as a group, largely in the second half of games. This is something we are trying to improve and over time we will get there. The comeback versus Athlone, the win in Finn Harps & the late equaliser in Bray all positive moments to date. Disappointment though has been seen with injury time loss to UCD & defeat to Cork both of whom were Premier Division sides last season. We are frustrated with our performance versus Wexford last week and hoping to put that right against Finn Harps. I have to thank all my staff for all the work they have put in so far.

Recently we have had to deal with the loss of some first team players due to injury however in the last week some of those players have began training with the full group again, a sight welcome to the rest of the squad. Having a full squad available on top of the talented young players in the academy is important so we can show what we can do week in, week out.

We have also moved from Turners Cross as a home venue to come back home to St Colemans Park with the addition of a new astro turf playing pitch and LED lighting system. This will be a fantastic facility for the club in the long term and we must acknowledge all the hard work that the club members have done in the background. Our sponsors have also played a significant part this year and thanks to all those for their contributions.

Finally, and most importantly a huge thanks to all the fans who have shown their support so far for the team and we want you to continue to get behind the lads as we have a huge couple of months and home games where we will need your support.

Up The Rams
