Cobh Ramblers u17’s have qualified for the final of the 2016 National League Shield Competition following a comprehensive 4-0 win over Galway side Mervue United at St Colman’s Park on Saturday. First half strikes from Ryan O’Regan and Gordon Walker had the Young Rams in a strong position and late goals in the second half from Stephen O’Leary and senior squad member James McSweeney added some gloss to the scoreline.

Bray Wanderers will be the opposition in the decider as the Wicklow side made it past Drogheda United in the other semi-final. Ethan McCarthy’s side will have little time to prepare for the final which takes place on Tuesday night in the Carlisle Grounds. The two sides have met twice this season. Cobh won 1-0 at home on the opening day of the campaign while the away tie also finished 1-0 to Ramblers.
