Michael McDermott Appointed Head Coach of Cobh Ramblers FC
Cobh, Ireland – December 4, 2024 – Cobh Ramblers FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Michael McDermott as the club’s new Head Coach. A seasoned football professional with a wealth of international experience, McDermott brings expertise honed at the highest levels of the game, including the FIFA World Cup, AFC Champions League, and Europa League.

Hailing from Belfast, Northern Ireland, McDermott’s career spans multiple continents, having held key roles with national teams such as Iran and Qatar under renowned coaches like Carlos Queiroz. He has also managed in elite club football, guiding Glentoran FC to domestic success and European qualifications.

Club Chairman Bill O’Leary welcomed McDermott, emphasizing his extensive experience: “Michael’s appointment reflects our ambition to bring world-class knowledge to our club. His track record at international and club levels speaks for itself, and we are confident his expertise will elevate Cobh Ramblers.”

Paul Francis, Founder and CEO of FC32, the club’s ownership group, highlighted McDermott’s performance-driven approach, “Michael has demonstrated his ability to deliver results in the most competitive environments. McDermott will officially take charge of the team immediately, as preparations begin for the next chapter in Cobh Ramblers’ journey.
