Cobh Ramblers Club Statement

Cobh Ramblers FC are delighted to confirm that Darren Murphy has been appointed first team manager on an interim basis until the end of the 2021 League of Ireland season.

Darren previously played with the club between 2003 and 2007 and was also the club’s Assistant Manager for a brief period in 2016. Darren has played in England for Stevenage and Aldershot among others and has coached with great success in the Munster Senior League in recent seasons, most notably in recent times with Cobh Wanderers, before taking up a role in our Academy set-up as Under 19 Team Manager.

Darren will now vacate his role as Under 19 Manager and will take up the role as First Team Manager with immediate effect.

New First Team Manager Darren Murphy:

“I have really enjoyed my time so far working with the Under 19s and working within the club. Football is a game that constantly throws obstacles in your way and that’s why we all love it. This is a new challenge for me and my team and we are looking forward to it.”

Chairman Bill O’Leary:

“Darren is a young, innovative, & ambitious manager who we believe will help progress the club on the field for at least the remainder of the season.
His way of working is something we admire and is aligned to where the club is off the field. We believe the match between him, and the club is at the right time in our trajectory to help us both on and off the field.”

Darren’s first game in charge will be Sunday’s trip to the UCD Bowl for our FAI Cup first round clash with Liffey Wanderers. The game kicks off at 2pm and will be streamed live on LOI TV.
