Rams travel to Galway

Cobh Ramblers are on the road to second place Galway United this Friday, as new manager Shane Keegan looks for his first win since taking charge at the club.

The Tribesmen were narrow 1-0 winners when the sides last met in Eamonn Deacy Park, while they were also victors in this year’s meeting in Cobh. They come into the game on the back of a “1-0 win over fellow promotion hopefuls Waterford. The Rams come into the game off last week’s loss to Treaty United.

Ramblers should have new signing Charlie Fleming available while Jason Abbott and Darragh O’Sullivan Connell return from suspension. Pierce Phillips, Dale Holland and James McCarthy remain absent through injury however.

Ex-Rams David Hurley and Charlie Lyons now ply their trade at Galway and will be familiar faces among John Caulfield’s men.

Cobh manager Shane Keegan gave his views ahead of the tie against his former club,

“We have to learn how to be a bit more ruthless at both ends of the pitch, to turn performances into points. I saw the potential on Friday night. We’re capable of getting things from games and having something to show for our efforts.

Charlie is a huge addition, I know him a long time. We know what we’re getting, he’s a super player and he’s a winner. That’s the kind of personality we want around the place. I’m looking forward to working with him.

Galway are going gung-ho to try and get promoted. We’ve done our homework. They’re a very good side. We have some good sessions behind us and we’re dying to pull off a shock result. The aim is to be competitive in every single game.”

Kick-off on Friday night is at 19:45, with the game live on LOITV here.
