Ramblers sign Dean Swords

Cobh Ramblers can announce that striker Dean Swords has joined the club from Munster Senior League Premier Division side Ringmahon Rangers.

Dean captained the Cork Youths team to All-Ireland success earlier this year and also played a key role in the Munster u18 team’s Interprovincial win in 2015. He joined Ringmahon this summer having previously played with College Corinthians up to senior level.

The 18 year old played against us in our FAI Cup win against the Mahon side at Turners Cross in 2016. His manager that day was one of Ramblers’ most outstanding strikers in recent times, Kieran O’Reilly, who also happens to be his father. It’s clear that footballing talent is in Dean’s blood and we look forward to seeing him in the claret and blue for 2017.

Speaking on the move, manager Stephen Henderson is delighted to have the player on board, “Dean is a player that I have had my eye on for quite a while. He is an extremely intelligent footballer who also possesses great strength and speed. Dean can play in any attacking position to great effect and his arrival is a great boost to our squad. He has scored and created plenty of goals at all the clubs that he has played for and we anticipate that he will do the same with Cobh Ramblers.”
