Midfield duo arrive on loan

Cobh Ramblers are pleased to welcome two new loan signings for the remainder of the season. Midfielder Mikie Rowe joins the club from First Division leaders Galway United, while midfielder Dean Larkin arrives from Waterford FC.

Wexford native Rowe began his League of Ireland career with Waterford in 2014, spending two seasons at the RSC. He then moved to the US on a soccer scholarship before playing with professional side Tormenta FC in Georgia. Mikie returned to Ireland in 2020 and has spent the past two and a half years at the Tribesmen, making 16 appearances this season and scoring once.

Also joining the club is 20 year old Waterford native Larkin. Dean has made 14 First Division outings so far this year, having come through the Waterford academy and making his first team debut last season. He will follow in the footsteps of older brother Jack who featured for the Rams in 2022, and the pair will become the latest set of siblings to play first team football at St Colman’s Park. Both players should be eligible for Friday’s trip to Finn Harps as Ramblers look to consolidate our position in the First Division play-offs.

Speaking about the new arrivals, manager Shane Keegan was delighted with his recent recruits,

“Firstly I’m delighted to get Mikie on board with us. It’s not before time, he’s a player that first trained with me when he was 17. That’s ten years ago and almost every year since I’ve tried to get him wherever I’ve been since. He’s a fantastic footballer with quick feet, a brilliant football brain and a real eye for goal. I think he’ll be a huge addition to us over the remainder of the season.

On Dean, I think he’s one of the most promising young players in the league. I know Waterford rate him extremely highly. They see this as a big step in his progression. He’s everything you look for in a player in terms of physicality and attitude. I know his brother was at the club previously and everyone had good things to say about him. Dean is cut from the same cloth and will add real strength in depth and competition to the squad for the rest of the year.”
