Alec Byrne joins Ramblers

Cobh Ramblers are pleased to confirm the signing of midfielder Alec Byrne from Treaty United. The 24 year old joins the club for the remainder of the 2023 League of Ireland campaign, with the Rams looking to secure a First Division play-off spot.

Alec came through the Carrigaline United set-up before first joining Cork City at U17 level. He would spend six years at City, featuring for their UEFA Youth League squad in 2016 as well as winning the 2021 First Division and three Munster Cups between 2017 and 2019. Byrne joined the Limerick LOI side this year, making 19 appearances.

Alec joins from Treaty where I felt he was one of their standout players this season. He’s a technical player with a great football brain. When we heard that he might be available it was a no-brainer for us, especially with Claudio Osorio and Callum Stringer recently moving on. He’s a tremendous addition to the set-up and I’ve no doubt that he’ll have a positive impact on our season.”

Alec will be available for selection for Friday’s clash at home to Galway United in St Colman’s Park and tickets for the tie are on sale now here
