Cobh Ramblers FC are pleased to announce that Ian Turner, Stephen O’Leary and Jamie O’Sullivan have re-signed for the club for the 2020 campaign.
Midfielder Ian Turner joined the club in 2019 from St Pat’s, having spent time previously at Limerick and Cork City. He made 31 appearances in his debut year at the club, the most of any Ramblers player last season.
Stephen O’Leary originally joined our U17 side from Ringmahon Rangers and gradually progressed through to senior level, making his first team debut in 2017. 2019 was his breakthrough season at senior level, making 25 appearances.
Speaking at the announcement the midfielder had this to say,
“I’m delighted to sign back with the club. I’ve been playing here for years between the seniors and the underage set up and I’ve enjoyed every bit of it. I hope we can build on the strong performances that we produced towards the end of last season and push for a play-off spot this year.”
Defender Jamie O’Sullivan stepped up from our U19 side towards the end of this season and made 4 senior appearances, scoring on his home debut against Athlone. The former Douglas Hall man joined Ivan Bevan’s U19 setup in 2019 from Cork City, and went on to captain the side and pick up their Player of the Year Award. He had this to say regarding the news,
“I’m delighted to be back at the club for the season ahead as I think this season we can go a step further.
I enjoyed playing with the U19s last year and I got a taste of senior football but I’m looking forward to stepping up properly to the first team. We are confident it will be a good season.”
The trio join defender Charlie Lyons in Stuart Ashton’s confirmed squad for 2020. Further announcements will follow shortly.
