Preview | Treaty Trip for Ramblers

Cobh Ramblers face another Munster Derby this Friday night, travelling to Treaty United in the Markets Field.

The Rams come into the tie on the back of last week’s 4-2 defeat at Waterford. An early brace from Jack Larkin against his old club had Cobh in front at the break but the Blues struck back in the second half to take all three points.

Treaty drew 0-0 on Monday night in a re-arranged fixture and the Limerick men are without a win in six.

The two clubs have met four times since Treaty’s formation in 2021, with the Limerick men securing two wins and two draws. The pair drew 0-0 in this season’s earlier meeting at St Colman’s Park, and former Rams Stephen Christopher, Lee Devitt and Martin Coughlan will be among the Treaty squad this weekend.

In terms of squad news, John Kavanagh and Dale Holland remain absent through injury while Conor Drinan, Issa Kargbo and Beineón O’Brien Whitmarsh will hope to return after missing last time out.

Manager Darren Murphy spoke to the assembled media earlier this week ahead of the trip to Shannonside,

“We’re in a position in the table that we don’t want to be. There’s still a long season in front of us. We’re 2-1 up in Waterford and executing our game plan, then second half we make too many mistakes and concede three goals. That’s frustrating. We have a good side, a very good team, you just have to show faith and trust. It’s about turning performances into results and having that belief.

We’ve played the top teams and put it up to them. There’s been some good performances and we’re taking it game by game. There’s no giving up here and we’ve got to keep going. The last two weeks have been tough but looking ahead to this week, Treaty are a good side and it should be an exciting match. It’s a great opportunity for us.”

The game is live on LOITV here, kicking-off at 19:45 on Friday night.
