Cobh Ramblers midfielder Shane O’Connor has today re-signed for the club ahead of the 2019 League of Ireland season, his fourth at the club.

A graduate of Liverpool’s academy, the former Rockmount schoolboy plied his trade at Ipswich Town under Roy Keane between 2009 and 2012 before returning to Ireland for spells at Shamrock Rovers, Cork City and Limerick. He completed a move to Cobh in 2015 under Martin Cambridge. O’Connor was a key player as Ramblers reached the play-offs in 2016. He moved to Waterford for the 2017 season and helped them secure the First Division title. In 2018 he signed for Longford but returned to Cobh for the latter half of the season, captaining the club in the EA Sports Cup Final.

Shane has made 69 appearances for the club in his three seasons to date and had this to say about signing for 2019

”I’m delighted to sign back with Ramblers. Hendo has put together a nice squad and hopefully we’ll be in a nice position to compete with the top teams in the league. It was great to reach a national final last year and we want to build on that.”
