Kavanagh extends stay at St Colman’s Park

Cobh Ramblers defender John Kavanagh has signed a new deal at the club until the end of the 2021 League of Ireland season. The experienced full back made 16 first team appearances in 2020, having joined from Waterford at the beginning of the year. He also spent part of the 2017 campaign on loan at St Colman’s Park, making 9 appearances and picking up a First Division Runner Up medal. This will make the upcoming season his third at the club.

The 26 year old came through the Ringmahon Rangers schoolboy set-up, before joining City’s Academy in 2011, where he captained their U19 side. He would quickly break into the first team and made over 50 first team appearances at Cork, as well as enjoying loan spells at both Waterford and Finn Harps in the Premier Division in 2018 and 2019.

John joins Pierce Phillips, Sean Barron, Lee Devitt, Naythan Coleman, Darryl Walsh, Stephen O’Leary, Conor Drinan and Martin Coughlan in re-signing for next year, with more announcements to come shortly.
