We are pleased to confirm the signing of striker Conor Drinan from Munster Senior League side Carrigaline United. The young attacker joins our senior side having spent one previous season with our U17s in 2017.
Conor started playing with Carrigaline at the age of 5 and remained at Ballea Park until he joined Damien Rowe’s U17s for the 2017 campaign. He was a key player for the Young Rams that year, making 19 appearances. He returned to Carrigaline in 2018 and spent the past two years with their first team squad. He was their top scorer as they secured promotion to the Premier Division in 2019, scoring 24 goals.
He is a younger brother of former Ram and fellow striker Aaron Drinan, who is currently on loan at Ayr United from Ipswich Town.
Conor had this to say about the news,
“I’m delighted to be back with Cobh for the coming season and I can’t wait for the season to get started. Everyone has been very welcoming to me and I’m really enjoying it. We have a great squad and with the lads here we can definitely be successful.”
Conor and the rest of the senior squad take on Premier Division neighbours Cork City this Sunday at 2pm in our latest pre-season friendly. The game takes place in Mayfield United as we finalise work on the St Colman’s Park pitch ahead of the new First Division campaign.
