Douglass Week: Cobh Ramblers Commemorative Event

We at Cobh Ramblers are proud and delighted to be part of Douglass Week 2021. This week- long programme of events commemorates the legacy of Frederick Douglass. The activist, author and abolitionist had a strong and transformative connection to Ireland after visiting in 1845.

This online event will focus on the shared values of equality, diversity & inclusion. We’re delighted to have such a strong panel of speakers on the night, including:

  • Bill O’ Leary, Chair of Cobh Ramblers/ Panel Chair
  • Adam Idah, Irish International
  • Mary McDonnell, Cobh Women’s Captain
  • Brendan Ogle, Unite Union ROI
  • TJ Hogan, East Cork Travellers Project

We’re also delighted to welcome Dr. Adrian Mulligan from Bucknell University, as well as a pre-recorded Q&A with Irish International Cyrus Christie on the day.

Cobh Ramblers Football Club is an Irish football club. The club, founded in 1922 and elected to the League of Ireland in 1985, hails from Cobh, County Cork and play their home matches at St. Colman's Park. The club's colours are claret and blue.
