Following the opening of the League of Ireland summer transfer window, Cobh Ramblers FC are pleased to announce the signing of Danny O’Connell, most recently of Munster Senior League side Avondale United.
The 26 year old first came through Carrigaline United’s schoolboy set-up and senior side. He spent a short spell at Cork City in 2015 before joining Avondale, where he would become one of the league’s most prolific attackers.
O’Connell played alongside current first team players Killian Cooper, Sean Barron and David O’Leary while at Avondale, and helped them to the 2018 FAI Intermediate Cup title among many other honours. He has also been capped for the Irish Colleges & Universities side. He joins the likes of Jake Hegarty (Midleton), Ciaran Griffin (Cobh Wanderers) and Conor Drinan (Carriagline) who have joined Ramblers from the MSL in recent years
Speaking about the move, Danny is eager to impress as soon as possible, and help push Cobh on for the rest of the season,
“I can’t wait to get back playing again. It’s a new challenge for me and I’m looking forward to testing myself at this level. Hopefully I can have the same impact as the rest of the MSL players who have stepped up to the LOI, and we’ll be fighting for that play off spot come the end of the season.”
Danny will hope to make his Ramblers debut in tomorrow’s game away to Bray Wanderers, which is live on LOITV here.
In the meantime, tomorrow is also the deadline for our hugely popular Adare Manor Grand Prize Draw, with tickets only €10 and available to buy here!
