Cobh Ramblers host seventh place Cabinteely this Saturday night in the club’s penultimate game of the league season. Following last week’s 2-0 win over previously unbeaten champions Limerick, the Rams are now just a solitary point behind UCD, who occupy the final play-off spot. With only two games remaining, it really is all to play for at the top of the First Division. Second place Drogheda have been dragged back into the play-off dogfight following our win over Limerick. Five points above Ramblers, they now require a point from their final two games to guarantee a play-off spot, not the easiest task with games against UCD and Limerick ahead of them.

All Cobh can do however is put it up to the sides above them and secure the six points on offer, starting with Saturday’s visit of a Cabinteely side who always put it up to Ramblers. The two sides have met seven times since ‘Cabo’ entered the league last season, with Cobh winning five, drawing one and losing one. This year, all three meetings have gone the way of the Rams. The last game between the sides saw Ramblers win 3-1 in Stradbrook courtesy of a Stephen Christopher brace and a late Eoin McGreevy strike. Cabinteely come into the tie on the back of a 1-0 victory over Drogheda and will be buoyed with confidence following that impressive win. They will be without former Ram Evan Galvin however who is suspended for the clash.
Jason Abbott remains the only absentee through injury and Cian Kingston and Jonathan Creamer will both return to the squad having missed the win over Limerick. Shane O’Connor announced his comeback from injury with a goal against his former side and the experienced midfielder is expected to feature once again.
Cabinteely are yet to win on the road this season, something that bodes well for a Cobh side unbeaten at home since May 7th when Limerick left St Colman’s Park with a 3-0 win.
Kick-off on Saturday night is at 19:15.
