Cobh Ramblers FC are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Cian Coleman for the 2017 season. Cian is a former Cork City player and featured for their u19 squad during the 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015 and 2016 seasons while making the step up to senior level in both 2015 and 2016. He was captain of their u19 team in 2016 as they claimed the Enda McGuill Cup while he also lead Cork in the UEFA Youth League. He worked heavily with current Ramblers assistant manager Stuart Ashton in the past.
Cian was recently on trial at a number of English sides including Nottingham Forest. The former Leeds and Colaiste Chriost Rí centre midfielder has featured for the FAI Schools side and also completed the FAI ETB course in Carrigaline. Cian is expected to go straight into the Ramblers squad for Saturday’s game with Athlone Town.
Manager Stephen Henderson is delighted to have the 20 year old on board at Cobh,
“Cian is an excellent addition to the squad. He will bring quality and determination to the team on the pitch and in training sessions. His versatility is a bonus but also very important for our small squad. Competition for places is getting stronger and the players know that the lads not starting at the moment are ready and able when to come in.
We have a number of lads who are unfortunate not to have started games yet but that will change as the season progresses as we fully intend to utilise our full squad over the course of the season. Cian signing is another example of our club’s philosophy of identifying and signing the best young talent in Cork. We all look forward to working with him and watching him grow whilst helping Ramblers to a successful season.”
