Cobh Ramblers FC are delighted to confirm that goalkeeper Sean Barron has extended his stay at the club, signing a new contract until the end of the 2021 League of Ireland season.
Barron joined the Rams from Avondale United last summer and picked up four clean sheets in his first four matches, ending the season with eight in total. A penalty save in the win at eventual champions Drogheda United was another highlight for the Waterford man, who has previous experience with Cork City, Waterford United and the Waterford Gaelic Football team.
An FAI Intermediate Cup winner with Avondale, Barron spent four years at the MSL side before signing for Stuart Ashton’s Ramblers in most recent summer transfer window. Sean had this to say about the news earlier today,
“Last year was hugely enjoyable and it went better than I could have expected for me personally, despite the overall disappointment on the final day. We’re definitely a club going in the right direction and I’ve no doubt that we’ll be right up there at the end of the year. The first game of the season just can’t come quick enough and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Sean joins Darryl Walsh, Stephen O’Leary, Conor Drinan and Martin Coughlan in re-signing for next year, with plenty more announcements to come shortly.
