Cobh Rambler Football Club would like to thank Bill O’Leary for his dedication, time, and for always acting with the best interests of the club at heart as he steps away from his role as Chairman after 8 Years.
A message from Ilya Movshovich, Managing Partner of Digital Athlete Ventures and all at Cobh Ramblers FC:
On behalf of Digital Athlete Ventures and the entire Cobh Ramblers family, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Bill as he steps down from his role as Chairperson.
For the past 8 years, Bill has given selflessly to this club. Leading a football club as a volunteer is a labour of love, and Bill has navigated us through significant challenges while ensuring we made considerable progressive strides across all aspects of the club.
Bills tenure was defined by his ability to foster strong relationships with the FAI, the MFA and political stakeholders, work that has undoubtedly elevated the clubs standing within Irish football, but perhaps most importantly, he served with a passion of a lifelong supporter.
We are comforted knowing Bill isn’t going far. We look forward to seeing him back on the terrace, supporting the team he loves, simply as a fan.
Bill, thank you for your dedication, your time, and for always acting with the best interests of the club at heart.
Once a Ram, always a Ram.
Bill O’Leary had this to say:
We are at the end of another football season. It’s amazing how quickly 8 years can fly by when you’re surrounded by passionate people and meaningful work to do – and as with all good things, everything has its time to end.
After 8 great years on the Board and 6 years as chairperson I am stepping away as a volunteer now. This decision isn’t a recent one and was planned early in 2025 and this likelihood was informed to club members back then.
I have really enjoyed my time with the club and despite facing many challenges over the years we have made considerable progressive strides across all aspects of the club. I’m comforted by the fact that I’ve always acted with the best interests of the club at heart.
I have been privileged to serve the club I supported since a five year old with my Dad. I want to thank especially all those who have given selflessly to the club; you all have made a considerable impact. These volunteers are the real heroes in my eyes. Additionally, I have been lucky enough to create many great friends and new relationships with other clubs. I fostered strong relationships with the FAI (whilst working on the National Leagues Committee etc) MFA, and politically which I believe have benefitted the club and elevated it within Irish football. I especially thank the people of Cobh who have supported the club wholeheartedly in recent years and understood what we were trying to achieve. What’s so heartening is to see so many young kids now wearing the club colours with pride.
It’s appropriate now to transition to new leadership.
I now look forward to supporting the team from the terrace in the future and watching another chapter of Cobh Ramblers.
Thank you all again, and I wish the club all the success in years to come.
Once a Ram, Always a Ram!
The club is actively collaborating with those remaining at the club who have been instrumental in the recent transition and steadying of the ship as we develop a Strategic Vision heading in to 2026.
We will provide further information on the new members of the board of operations at Cobh Ramblers football club in the coming days.
