Preview | Munster Derby in Limerick

We are on the road again this week, as Ramblers travel to Limerick to face Treaty United at Markets Field on Friday.

The Rams maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a goalless draw away to Longford Town last week. It was a strong defensive display on the night by the Rams to get a well-earned point on the road. This leaves us joint 2nd in the table with seven points from a possible nine heading into Friday’s game in Limerick. Our impressive start to the season has been recognised, as for the third week in a row, a Ram has featured in the LOI Zone First Division Team of the Week, with left back Cian Browne’s phenomenal display last week earning a place in the side.

Treaty United have yet to taste victory this season, with the Shannonsiders picking up their first point of the season against Kerry FC last week after defeats to Bray Wanderers and Galway United in the opening weeks of the campaign.

Treaty have finished in the play-offs in their two seasons as a club competing in the League of Ireland, so they will be hoping to kickstart their season on Friday when Shane Keegan’s men visit Markets Field. Their side hosts a number of former Cobh men including goalkeeper Shane Hallahan, defenders Ben O’Riordan and Anto O’Donnell, and midfielder Stephen Christopher.

We last travelled to Markets Field in September of last year, as the home side left with the spoils on that occasion in a 1-0 win. Since Treaty United’s debut in the League of Ireland in the 2021 season, The Rams have failed to secure a win against the Limerick side, with the sides drawing on three occasions and Treaty boasting 4 wins from 7 contests.

Conor Drinan remains an injury absentee for boss Shane Keegan.

Jason Moore will take charge of the Munster Derby on Friday night.

Friday’s game kicks off at 7:45pm, with the game also being broadcast live from Markets Field on LOITV. You can purchase a match pass for just €5, here.
