Áine O’Donovan appointed Women’s U19 Manager

Cobh Ramblers FC are delighted to announce that Áine O’Donovan has been newly appointed as the manager of our U19 Women’s National League team for 2023.

Áine has become a stalwart of women’s football in Cork in recent years, having coached the Cork Gaynor Cup teams as well as with Cork City at academy and first team level. The Bandon native began coaching with her local club Bandon AFC, taking charge of schoolboys and schoolgirls sides at the West Cork club. In 2020 she coached and managed the West Cork Kennedy Cup Squad. Her most recent position was as coach of the Bandon AFC first team as well within their academy set-up.

Speaking about the appointment Áine had this to say,
“I am absolutely delighted to be appointed to the role. It’s a massive honour
for me personally. I am hugely grateful for the opportunity and really looking forward to getting started. It’s going to be another big year for women’s football in Ireland and it’s great to see Cobh Ramblers progressing with this addition of an U19 team in the Women’s National League. I can’t wait to play my part in this and help build on the work done at Cobh to date.”

Cobh Ramblers chairman Bill O’Leary also spoke following the news,
“We are delighted so secure someone of Áine’s status as our new U19 Women’s manager. She has proven national league and academy experience and matches our ambition to really progress in women’s football. It is our first year competing at U19 level and expands on our entry to the U17 league last year”.

Cobh Ramblers FC are now taking expressions of interest from prospective players for our League of Ireland Women’s U19 side who will compete in 2023. Parents/Guardians of players born in 2004 & 2005 are invited to apply by filling out this Google Form.

We wish to hugely thank Garry and Anne Wilson for their continued support of women’s football in Cobh Speaking on behalf of Belvelly Castle, Jonathan Lee had this to say,
“We are delighted to continue to sponsor the women’s national league teams at Cobh Ramblers FC, we wish both squads the very best of luck and look forward to the season ahead in 2023.”
