Cobh Ramblers Announce the Signing of Mikey Carroll

Cobh Ramblers Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of highly talented young midfielder Mikey Carroll. The 18-year-old joins the club on an academy/first-team contract, further highlighting the club’s commitment to providing a pathway for young players to progress into senior football.

Mikey began his footballing journey with Villa FC before moving to the Waterford FC Academy at the age of 12. He progressed through all academy age groups at the club, eventually making his way into the first-team setup. His performances at youth level saw him named Waterford U17 Player of the Year in 2023, showcasing his ability and potential.

Speaking about his move to Cobh Ramblers, Mikey said: “When the opportunity came to work with Mick and the management team as well as the experienced players throughout the squad, it was a very easy decision and I can’t wait to get going.”

First-team manager Mick McDermott is excited about Mikey’s arrival and the qualities he brings to the squad: “Mikey has impressed during his time with us; he matches what we are looking for at Cobh—ability and a hunger to improve. I look forward to working with him within our first-team setup.”

This signing reinforces Cobh Ramblers’ vision of developing young players and creating a clear pathway from the academy into senior football. Mikey’s addition is another step in strengthening the squad with talented prospects who have the potential to make a significant impact.
