Preview | Rams host Everton in Munster Cup

Tonight sees Cobh Ramblers open their defence of the Munster Senior Cup with a quarter-final tie against Munster Senior League First Division outfit Everton. The MSL side currently sit eighth in their division and defeated Leeside, Rockmount and St Mary’s to get to this stage. The game kicks-off at 19:45 in the Stephen Ireland Astroturf, Oldchurch Park and we would like to thank Cobh Wanderers for their assistance in accommodating the fixture. It is Ramblers’ first competitive tie at the venue.

Ramblers are the current holders of the trophy, having defeated Cork City in the 2022 final when a James O’Leary (below)free-kick was enough to secure a 1-0 victory. The Rams have now claimed the title six times, the first being back in 1925.

A number of Cobh players could make their competitive debut on the night. New arrivals Jack Doherty, Wilson Waweru, Cian Browne and Callum Stringer could all be in contention while manager Shane Keegan is also likely to involve some of the Academy talents who have impressed to date in pre-season.

Entry on the gate is €5 and the tie is to be decided on the night. Please note that parking within the venue is restricted to players and officials only. Supporters are asked to please avail of the nearby car parks instead.

Ramblers’ next action is then Saturday’s MIG Challenge Cup against Fermoy which takes place at 15:00 in St Colman’s Park.
