Preview | Ramblers v UCD

The Rams are back in home action tonight as UCD visit St Colman’s Park.

The sides last met in June when a Jake Hegarty double secured a 2-1 away win for Ramblers. Our last home win over UCD came in 2017 and they Dubliners will no doubt prove a difficult assignment again this weekend.

Cobh come into the game on the back of last week’s derby defeat to Cork City while the Students were 6-0 winners at Athlone in their previous outing.

Charlie Lyons serves the second of a three game suspension, while Ben O’Riordan returns from his one game ban. Defenders Darryl Walsh and Cian Murphy missed the Derby through injury and will be assessed prior to kick-off.

Manager Darren Murphy gave his pre-match thoughts earlier this week,

“Last week is gone, we’ve got to move on to the next one. UCD are a good side, they always have been. We’re at home, we have to work hard. We know the talent that we have in the team, it’s just about showing that off on the pitch.

Going into the last few games, we have to pick up results. The lads are looking to impress for next season. The squad is working really hard and hopefully they believe in themselves as a group and put in a performance. They won’t take last week lightly.

Some of the 19s have been training with us, Fionn Duggan has already played, and others have been in squads. They’re top of a really good division so we have to be looking at them. We’re excited about those players coming through.”

Kick-off in St Colman’s Park is at 19:00, with the game being streamed live on LOITV here.
