Cobh Ramblers FC are delighted to announce that defender James McSweeney has re-signed for the club prior to the 2019 League of Ireland season.

The 19 year old signed for the club’s u17 side in 2016 from Cork City, having graduated from Carrigaline United’s schoolboy setup. He scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Bray as the u17’s won the National Shield Final that season under Ethan McCarthy.

He made the jump to senior level in 2017 and has since made 55 senior appearances. The U18 Irish international featured 28 times last year including the EA Sports Cup final against Derry City.

He had this to say about re-signing, “It’s great to sign back for another year. I’m really looking forward to getting back into it. It’s definitely a big year for us and we’re hoping we can really push on this year and be successful.”
