Jason Abbott returns to Ramblers

Cobh Ramblers FC are pleased to welcome midfielder Jason Abbott back to the club, as interim manager Darren Murphy’s first new signing.

A Cobh native, Jason came through the academy system at Springfield Ramblers. At U16 level he was part of the Ramblers team that captured the prestigious National Cup title in 2011. He then stepped up to play with the first ever Cobh Ramblers team in the U19 League of Ireland. In an impressive season they won the 2012 Southern Division, under the guidance of his father Niall who himself is a former Ramblers player.

After spells at Cork City and in the US, Jason then featured for MSL side UCC where he won a Collingwood Cup in 2015. That summer Jason returned to Ramblers and would quickly become a key player at St Colman’s Park. He was part of the Cobh side that won the 2016 Munster Cup and reached the First Division play-offs that same year.

In 2017 Jason joined Cobh Wanderers where he played up to now. He featured heavily in Darren Murphy’s time as Wanderers manager, where he played with current Rams Ciaran Griffin and Nathan O’Connell.

We are delighted to have Jason on board for the rest of the 2021 season and look forward to seeing him in action, starting on Friday night away to Shelbourne.

Friday’s clash is available to watch live on LOITV here.
