First senior contracts for five Young Rams

Cobh Ramblers can announce that Alan Happi, Darragh Burke, Michael McCarthy, Tiernan O’Brien and David Eguaibor have all signed their first senior contracts for the 2022 League of Ireland season.

Alan first joined the club’s U17 side in 2018 from Ringmahon Rangers, spending two impressive years within the Academy. He returned to Ringmahon’s first team in 2020 but re-joined Ramblers at U19 level in 2021, his final year of Academy football.

Goalkeeper and Cobh native Darragh Burke joined the club’s U19 side this year from Cork City and will also be a member of the first team squad in 2022. He came through Springfield Ramblers before signing for Cork City’s Academy, and already made his Ramblers debut in the Munster Cup win at Bandon. His father Darragh won the First Division with Ramblers in 2007.

Versatile defender Michael McCarthy first joined our U15s in 2019 from Midleton. He has been an academy stalwart since then and last season featured for both the U17s and U19s. Michael is still eligible for two more years of U19 football but will be a member of Darren Murphy’s senior squad for 2022.

Tiernan O’Brien is another player who has come through the club’s full Academy system since joining our first ever U15 National League side in 2018 from Fermoy. The attacking midfielder has since progressed through U17 and U19 football, and remains eligble for the U19 side in 2022.

Finally David Eguaibor joins brother Justin in the first team squad this season. David first joined our U15s in 2019 from Douglas Hall. He has been a consistent goalscorer in our academy then and last season featured for both the U17s and U19s. He is still eligible for two more years of U19 football but will be a member of Darren Murphy’s senior squad for 2022.
