Cobh Ramblers FC Academy announces Head Coach Line up for 2021

Cobh Ramblers Head of Youth Development Ivan Bevan has today announced the club’s Academy Head Coaches for the upcoming 2021 season.

“We are delighted to be able to build on the progress made by the Academy last year. We have put together a dynamic team of coaches led by strong experienced individuals. The coaches are ready to go for the season, and cannot wait to start. It is imperative that we only start when the safety of everyone can be guaranteed, and we are working with our players remotely in the meantime to ensure they are in peak condition when they return.”

New U19 Head Coach Darren Murphy

Our U19 Coaching Team will be lead by Head Coach Darren Murphy. Darren joins from Cobh Wanderers FC, maintaining the link between the Cobh clubs. We wish to pass on our thanks to Cobh Wanderers for their support in this process. Darren played for the club between 2003 and 2007, and was also the club’s assistant manager in 2016. He has played in England for Stevenage and Aldershot among others, and has coached with great success in the Munster Senior League in recent seasons. He brings a wealth of experience to this pivotal role in the club, and will provide great guidance to the players in their pursuit of the next step in their progression.

Our U17s will again be lead by head coach Darren Dennehy in 2021. In his second year in the role, Darren will look to build on a hugely successful first term. The U17s qualified for the end of year play-offs, producing some great attacking flowing football on the way. Darren has played senior football in both the League of Ireland and the Football League during his career, and hopes to continue to provide his players with his knowledge throughout the season, to help them through the Academy pathway.

U15

U15 Head Coach John Forrest

Head Coach John Forrest will again lead our U15s for 2021. John is an ex-player with the Rams and knows the club thoroughly. He is entering his fourth season coaching with Ramblers, and has progressed through the coaching pathway within the club. The U15s finished the season with a defining midweek away win in Waterford, and were well placed to advance into the latter stages of the Shield competition before the season ended prematurely due to Covid. John is an ideal leader for these young players in the early stages of their Academy progression.

U14

New U14 Head Coach David O’Leary

We will be participating in the brand new U14 League of Ireland this year and the U14 coaching team will be led by David O’Leary, who starts his second season coaching with the club. Dave brings a wealth of knowledge of the schoolboy game in the county, and was part of the coaching staff of the successful All Ireland winning Cork team in 2019. Dave was part of the club’s U15 coaching team last season, and the club is delighted that he has accepted the challenge of introducing new players to the Cobh Ramblers Academy pathway.

The club wishes all coaches the best of luck for 2021, and look forward to the coaches introducing their coaching teams in the coming weeks.
