Preview: Ramblers v Salthill Devon

salthillpreviewCobh Ramblers are in action this Friday night at home to basement side Salthill Devon. Ramblers will want to end their 5 game winless streak against the bottom club. A depleted Rams side were on the end of a 5-1 drubbing last time out away to table-toppers Longford Town. Meanwhile the Galway side, were defeated 2-1 at home to Athlone Town in their last fixture.

In the reverse fixture earlier on in the season, the sides played out a 1-1 draw. Mikey O’Shea grabbed the goal for Ramblers that night. The last time the sides met in Cobh was in November 2010, as Salthill won 1-0 in the first leg of the A Championship/ First Division Play-Off. Captain John Meade should return to the side having been on the bench for the Longford game. Andrew Bhandarkhar remains out though. Defenders Seán O’Mahony and Brian Fitzgerald are also both suspended.

There is a full compliment of games in the First Division this Friday as Mervue host leaders Longford Town, Waterford travel to Athlone and Finn Harps make the long trip to Wexford Youths in the other games.
There are three things definite in life: Death, Taxes and goals at St. Colman’s Park! The historical ground has seen no less than 26 goals in the 5 games played there so far this season. This shows no signs of stopping Friday night as the two sides have conceded the most goals between them in the league (Cobh 24, Salthill 23). If it’s a good night’s entertainment you’re looking for make sure you head to Ramblers and support your local team!
