Whelan and Abbott depart club

Cobh Ramblers FC can today confirm that Matthew Whelan and Jason Abbott have left the club.

Matthew is leaving these shores to take up a scholarship at Davenport University in the United States. Having only joined the club in 2016 from Ballincollig, Matthew starred for our u19 side and soon progressed to the senior setup. Key goals in the play-off run made him a fans’ favourite and he will be missed both on and off the field.

Jason re-joined the club in 2015 from UCC and has spent two years at the club in his second spell here, having previously played for the u19s in 2012. The midfielder played a key role for us throughout the last two years and will be another big loss. Due to work and study commitments he is also finishing his time with us.

We would like to thank both lads for their time here and wish them the very best of luck in the future! They have given excellent service to Ramblers and will be missed by all #CRFC
