On the same night that Ramblers secured a hugely impressive 3-1 win away to Longford Town, the club was named Team of the Year for 2016 at the annual East Cork & District Sports Awards held in the Midleton Park Hotel. In attendance was guest of honour and Cork hurling legend Sean Óg Ó hAilpín, Midleton Park Hotel general manager Patrick Shields, Stephen Ryan and Lisa Lawlor of our media partners Red FM and TD’s David Stanton and Kevin O’Keeffe amongst many other notable guests.

The award capped off what was a superb year for the club both on and off the pitch. 2016 saw Ramblers claim a first Munster Senior Cup since 1983 as well as reaching the First Division play-offs against Drogheda United. The senior side reached the FAI Cup quarter-finals with the u17s securing the Mark Farren Memorial Shield in November against Bray Wanderers. Recognition such as this is a huge indication for all involved in the club that Cobh Ramblers are firmly going in the right direction.
