Four more re-sign for the club

Cobh Ramblers are pleased to announce that four further members of last season’s squad have put pen to paper on new deals for the 2017 season.

Cobh native Jason Abbott has re-joined for the coming year. Jason was a pivotal member of the squad this season before undergoing a shoulder operation that ruled him out of the second half of the year. The midfielder played with the club up until u19 level when he joined Cork City’s u19 setup. Spells in Boston and at UCC followed before ‘Abbo’ returned to St Colman’s Park in July 2015.

Chris McCarthy is the club’s longest serving player having arrived in 2013 and he has committed to Cobh for another season. The 20 year old continues to go from strength to strength and had a superb 2016 season.

Ian Mylod has also committed to the club for 2017 having joined the Rams last season. Ian had a brief spell at the club at underage level before playing for Cork City and UCC. He quickly became a key fixture in the starting eleven and scored four goals over the course of the season.

18 year old striker Matthew Whelan is another to remain at the club in what will be his first full season at St Colman’s Park. He only arrived at our u19 setup in the summer but two fantastic headers against Cabinteely and Athlone quickly introduced him to the Ramblers faithful. The first year CSN student was playing for Ballincollig in the Cork Youths League this time last year but will now prepare for pre-season at our senior side.
